Love is an amazing thing. Who knew that one action could cause you to grow and marvel in so many different ways. The cost of love: priceless. The boundaries of love: limitless.

The act of loving another, true self-sacrificial love, is a journey. Not always easy, not always hard.

It takes being thrown into euphorias and hardships to grasp, ever so minutely, what love really is.

Have you ever pondered love? True love?

Not just the mushy butterflies in your stomach kind of love, but true unadulterated, selfless love?

It's an amazing thing.

We have been commanded by God to love one another, love your wife as Christ did the Church, love patiently, kindly, selflessly.

True love is accepting someone for who they are, light, darks, and all. Putting them first and setting ourselves aside. Acknowledging that they are also made in the image of God and have fallen in sin. Acknowledging that and still accepting them as they did us.

True love is selfless. This one is hard. Our human nature wants to make love about "ME." "I want to be loved. I want to feel loved." It's so focused on ourselves and what we get and how we feel love should make us feel, that we lose sight of one of it's core traits. Selflessness.

Love takes the blemishes our sinful nature wants to focus on and covers them with forgivness, grace, and mercy.

Love is recognizing that we were wrong and being the first to say, "I'm sorry."

Love holds no grudges, but moves forward.

Love builds us and never tears down.

Love is opening yourself up and breaking down the walls to let someone in.

Love is hard. It hurts sometimes. But it challenges us for good.

Love was first demonstrated to us by God sending His only Son to die for our transgressions. We rebelled and turned our backs and God knowing us, saved us. Loved us. Forgave us.

Who are we to deny love to another? Stop taking love for granted and start being active in displaying love by God's example.

Love is not about me. And by putting someone else first, I am following God's example. Humility first. I'll get it....someday. :)
