Jean Tinguely was a Swiss painter and sculpter who lived in Basel and then France and is best known for sculptural machines or kinetic art. He lived from May 1925-August 1991 and his art satirized the mindless overproduction of material goods in advanced industrial society. The pieces here in the museum are monstrous and just amazingly insane!

Monika joined me. Here she is on the "walk on" machine. All of his machines move in some way by use of motors.

This one looks like a transformer. 

One of his machines dunks a gnome in water. So funny!

 This one is pretty cool as it plays instruments! 

I was not sure what to make of most of his exhibits, but they were fascinatingly strange...
