Augusta Raurica, Basel

Augusta Raurica is a Roman archaeological site in Basel Switzerland and the oldest known Roman colony on the Rhein. Augusta Raurica was founded by the Roman senator Lucius Munatius Plancus around 44 BC. It's only an 11 minute train ride away, so we took the train there with our bikes, explored, and rode 10 miles back home. Quite a way to spend a Sunday for sure!
For information here's a link to Wikipedia

The fields surrounding the area were gorgeous in color.

It's in incredible shape

The drawing shows what used to be across on the top of the hill.
