The Adventures of last Saturday

We had decided that we were going to go hiking on Saturday since the weather was so nice! We looked up some different trails and came up with East Zigzag Mountain. So we're driving along and come to the road we're supposed to pull off of and start down this one lane gravel road, only to find that it practically has been washed away. Here is what we read after we turned around:

This is where we turned around. We think we were only about a mile from the parking lot, but what can you do when a lake takes up the road and even past the curve?

The road so washed away that my side of the car was sitting a few feet high!

Just one of the obstacles in our path

On our way to plan B: Mirror Lake

A beautiful waterfall greets us

We are then greeted by snow. And I mean lots of snow.

Mirror Lake

So we hiked all the way here and back in sometimes more than two feet of snow. Most normal people go swimming when it's 80 degrees, but we go find the snow. :) It was a great time though! And to make the day more adventurous, on the way home we locked the keys in our car! Yay for AAA!!

Mirror Lake is so pretty. I want to go up there when the snow is gone. :-) I've heard in the fall is even more gorgeous!

P.s. the word verification below on the publish your comment page was gathodun. What a bizarre word. :-)

Pretty pictures! Lol, come on you two, you have a 4WD vehicle, gotta do a little off-roading! ;) I miss our truck, we'd definitely have driven up there. Glad you had a good time. We'd like to do some hiking this summer as well.

Even though our car has 4WD, we'd like to keep it in nice shape and not bust it up trying to drive through three feet deep by two feet wide pot holes. :) But your guy's truck would be perfect for that!
